This 16mm² XLPE Single Core cable is a single core, double insulated copper cable sold per metre, so you can order exactly the length the job needs. It is built for consumer mains, submains and other high-current circuits, where its XLPE insulation gives higher current ratings than an equivalent PVC-insulated cable.

A 7/1.70mm stranded copper conductor is insulated with X-90 XLPE and protected by a black 5V-90 PVC sheath. The result is a cable of about 9.3mm diameter rated 0.6/1kV with a 90°C maximum conductor temperature.

A. Yes. The price is per metre, so the quantity you order is the length you receive. 100m and 500m rolls are also listed for larger jobs.

Q. What is the current rating of 16mm XLPE single core?
A. It is rated at 78A three-phase / 86A single-phase in conduit in air, and 89A three-phase / 105A single-phase buried in ducts. Always size the cable under AS/NZS 3008.1.1 for the installation method, grouping and voltage drop.

Q. Why choose XLPE over PVC insulated cable?
A. XLPE insulation gives higher current ratings than an equivalent PVC cable, which often allows a smaller conductor for the same load.
